Modern Day Jeremiah
Support Philip Zodhiates, a modern-day Jeremiah, who continues to pursue God’s work while standing on His promises.
In Jeremiah 37:11-21, Jeremiah, God’s prophet, was falsely accused of siding with the enemy, the Chaldeans. He was subsequently convicted and thrown into the dungeon.
Philip has been falsely accused and convicted of aiding the kidnapping of a child by her own mother! His appeal was heard on April 9th, and he is awaiting the decision. If his conviction is upheld, he will spend three (3) years in Federal prison.
What was Philip convicted of?
Giving Lisa Miller and her biological daughter, Isabella, a ride from Virginia to New York.
THEIR STORY
Lisa Miller was in a lesbian civil union relationship with another woman. When she came to faith in Jesus Christ, she denounced homosexuality and dissolved the civil union. Isabella was born to Lisa in Virginia by means of artificial insemination from an anonymous sperm donor. Lisa’s name is the only one on the birth certificate.
When the other woman sued for visitation, Virginia courts initially ruled that Vermont had jurisdiction, and then Vermont declared the other woman, Isabella’s “other mother.” At that time, Lisa had full custody of Isabella, no travel restrictions, and possession of their passports. At this point she was given a ride from Virginia to New York by Philip Zodhiates.
POLITICAL MOTIVATION
This case has been in the court system since 2004, and is a politically-motivated prosecution supported by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and is an ongoing battle against our ideals. It wasn’t that long ago that Lisa asked the other woman, “Why are you pursuing criminal charges?” She replied, “I couldn’t stop it if I wanted to.” Make no mistake, God’s Word is under attack, and Christians are being called on everywhere to stand firm and not to waiver.
CIVIL CASE UPDATE
Not only are Philip and his wife, Kathie, fighting this culture war in criminal court, but also in civil court. He is one of many individuals and entities being sued by the “other mother” on the grounds of alienating her from her “daughter.” The civil case from the “other mother” is moving forward supported by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and the ACLU.
Isabella is now 16, and Lisa and Isabella have been out of the country since September 2009.
Legal costs continue to mount up for Philip and Kathie! Please consider helping them in their battle! Prayers and financial support are greatly appreciated!
