Support Gathering for Philip

It was a dreary day, misty and cold. We arrived at GraceBuilt Church in Waynesboro, VA early and someone was there to greet us and let us. The ladies of the church had come prepared to act as hostesses and take care of the food and drinks – what a blessing!

The Pastor arrived to set up the sound system. He was so kind and accommodating.  What a wonderful host and venue for the Support Gathering for Philip Zodhiates.

People started arriving around noon, and they kept coming. We estimated the crowd to be around 80 people. They came from as far away as Virginia Beach and Richmond, VA.  One couple even came from a funeral in Tennessee on their way back home to Pennsylvania.

They came to support a righteous man who is facing 2 3-year prison sentences for transporting a young mother and her daughter from Virginia to New York and giving her a few bucks. Yes, you read that right – Philip was convicted for being Jesus’ hands and feet and driving Lisa and Isabella to New York – for befriending a mother and child.

There was a sweet time of fellowship, and several people spoke: Janet Stasulli, President 419 Fund; Linda Wall, reclaimed former lesbian who also befriended Lisa and has been sued also; Judy Pollock, who has been following this case since 2004; Josh Akin, Pastor of GraceBuilt Church; and Kevin Strite, Pastor of River Oaks Church, Harrisonburg, VA (Philip and Kathie’s church). Philip and Kathie addressed the gathering and took a few questions. Kathie was a testimony to God’s grace and peace during these past 4 years of persecution and court battles.

The sweetest part of the gathering was the prayer time. Pastor Akin began and several others prayed for Philip and Kathie, then one man broke out in What a Mighty God We Serve. The gathering sang it through twice.  This song was a perfect ending to a perfect day, which had started off dreary, but ended praising God for all His done and all He is going to do in this situation.

The battle is not over. Philip reports to prison tomorrow – December 5.
